Al Arbour Continues His Fight Against Dementia

Last night at the Islanders Booster Club meeting, Mike Bossy mentioned that Jiggs McDonald & Eddie Westfall had visited Al Arbour in Florida.  Al is suffering from Dementia & balance issues.  He was said to be in good spirits and doing well in his rehab.  While many of you might know what Dementia is, you would have to experience it to realize how devastating it is to the person affected and their families.  It is a frustrating and crushing illness that can bring down the strongest person over time.  Seeing the photo makes it real.

It's tough for me to keep up on Coach Arbour’s story because I am going through the same thing with my Dad. And to be honest, Mr. Arbour was a type of father figure to me growing up as an Islanders fan. I want to thank Howard Berger for posting the following contact information if you would like to reach out to Mr. Arbour.

Al Arbour, The Pines (The Garden), 1501 N. Orange Ave., Sarasota FL 34236.
