Your New York Islanders will begin a new era of Islanders hockey tomorrow.  Well, almost.  But they will be entering the 2013-14 training camp at their 2014-15 future home, The Barclays Center in Brooklyn New York. After riding the train from Garden City into the Atlantic terminal and on to the arena, the Isles will be ready to practice as a team.  Thursday, September 12th will serve as a media day as the Ownership, Management and team will be in the sights of the New York and NHL media.

At 11:45, A Live stream of practice begins on IslandersTV and www.barclayscenter.com.

Per islanders.nhl.com, "There are two on ice sessions scheduled for the day. Group A will take the ice at 10:45 a.m. and Group B will skate at 12 p.m. Player availability will take place in the dressing rooms following each group’s skate. Islanders Owner Charles Wang, General Manager Garth Snow and Head Coach Jack Capuano will address the media at the conclusion of the second on ice session in the Ortsbo Interview Room."

With Johan Hedberg invited to Rangers camp and Tim Thomas, Jose Thedore and Izla Bryzgalov invited to Florida, Garth Snow looks to be mostly satisfied with his line up, at least at this time.  As camp gets started, we will know more about what role Kabanov, Nelson, Strome, de Haan, Donovan, Ness or even Griffin Reinhart may play, if any.  Will Nilsson unseat Poulin or will there be any other surprises?  Although unlikely, players like Halmo, Perrson, Sundstrom, Quine could make it difficult for the coaching staff.  It is important for all of them to have a good camp at very least to stick in the mind of management for a possible call up.

Lets get this thing started and see where it can go!

Isles Notes:

Per Chris Botta, "AHL/ECHL vets Chris Bruton and Justin Johnson also skating here with Isles. Both will be in camp."

"Only NHL vet coming to Isles camp is Radek Martinek."

NYI announce they have sent back Kyle Burroughs, Victor Crus Rydberg, Loic Leduc, Adam Pelech and Jesse Graham to their junior teams.

Per @andystrickland, "Brad Boyes opts to attend Panthers camp on a PTO. Isles not involved with G Tim Thomas either."

NHL Notes:

Per Chris Botta, "Besides World Cup of Hockey, NHL plans to a run a Champions Cup tournament featuring top NHL and European clubs by 2016."
