Thompson To Coach Sound Tigers

Today, Scott Pellerin was relieved of his duties as head coach of the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the New York Islanders AHL affiliate.  In an interesting turn of events Islanders assistant coach, Brent Thompson agrees to return to the Helm of the Sound Tigers once again.  As of now, Assistant Coaches, Eric Boguniecki & Doug Holewa will remain in Bridgeport.  Thompson had served as an Isles assistant coach for the past two seasons.

Prior to his stint on the Island, Thompson led the BST's into the AHL playoffs in 2011-12 with a 41-26-9 record and eventually was swept by the Connecticut Whale in the first round, the rival Rangers affiliate in Hartford.  Thompson is respected in the Islanders organization for his ability to teach young players the pro game and was credited with the development of several key prospects during that time.

Per Arthur Staple, "Isles beginning search for new NHL assistant coach, likely someone with experience coaching D."  More evidence that Management is taking this upcoming season a little differently than in  previous seasons.

Change is coming.
